Dr. Matthew Lewis was born in Concord, NH, but lived in several states as a child. He attended Gettysburg College, Northeastern University, University of Bridgeport and Boston University from which he received his bachelor's degree Magna Cum Laude. Dr. Lewis is a member of Phi Beta Kappa. He went to The Ohio State University where he received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree. Dr. Lewis has been practicing in New Hampshire since he established Goffstown Animal Hospital in 1977. He enjoys surgery and unusual medical cases.
Active in church and public affairs, Dr. Lewis has performed volunteer work for many groups including Science Enrichment Encounters, Greater Manchester Youth Symphony, Greater Manchester Community Music School, Greater Manchester Medical Reserve Corps, Goffstown CERT, and many public and private schools in the area. In 1993, Dr. Lewis and his friend Dr. Allen Tucker co-founded the Animal Emergency Clinic of Southern New Hampshire (now called Veterinary Emergency Center) to provide expert after-hours care for our patients.
Dr. Lewis is married and has five children, two sons-in-law, six grandsons, five dogs, six cats, and four horses. In his free time, he enjoys music, art and being outdoors.
